Wednesday, July 24th -- Today we went exploring, and started with the nearby White Hall Mansion. Built by Green Clay in 1798, and later owned by his son Cassius, the house was well taken care of for many years, until Cassius passed away and it fell into disrepair and eventually ended up being gifted to the state, who restored it and is now preserving it. Then we went to the Richmond Battlefield site, where I toured another house (Pleasant View Farm) while Ed walked General around the battlefield area and looked at the placards posted along the way.
At the house, I met a very nice gentleman who was full of knowledge about the battles that occurred in this area. Turns out, he has written a book that should soon be published. Very nice gentleman!
We ate at Hardee's for supper and went back to the campground to install the new Rhino black water holding tank that came in today's mail. This should help alot with campgrounds that do not provide sewer service at the site. We are hopeful it will be alot easier than tearing down and moving the camper to the dump station, and then setting back up again. LOL. And Ed also put on our new spare tire cover! Yeah!!
That evening we enjoyed a very nice campfire!
