Friday, June 14th -- We were in awe at the morning fog coming off the mountains!
We visited the Oconaluftee Indian Village on Friday. Wow! What an education! The Eastern Band of Cherokee never did live in teepees. They explained that was only for nomadic tribes, like those who had to follow the buffalo since that was their main food source. They lived in houses with frames made from weaved wood, and covered with mud/clay.
After the Europeans came to America, they began building wooden log homes.

They had displays of crafts, such as beading, making baskets, making tools, and woodworking.
They also had a sample sweat house, council house, and dance circle on display! Amazing!

They displayed several social dances, and we have many of those on video. After the tour, we went back to the Mountain Farm again. This time, Ed walked General from the museum into the edge of town, and I went shopping (Medicine Man Crafts for some herbs) and picked them up shortly after.
