Thursday, September 19th -- We took State Road 44 West, and for about the first half hour, we experienced regular bumps in the road, as was typical in the entire Badlands area. And we were stilling seeing the Badlands rock formations.
We passed by this herd of Bison, and for a minute, I thought they were wild and roaming. But then I realized they were on a ranch. LOL.

Once we passed over the Cheyenne River, we started to see regular rolling hills and trees.
Then we started to see some farm crops, mostly sunflowers.

When we got close to Rapid City, that's when we started to see the Black Hills, with all the evergreen trees and rocks.
Closer to the campground, Echo Valley Campground, the hills and evergreen trees were much more substantial.
The campground is on the front part of a very large property. The campground owner, Gary, is very proud of his lower acreage, and encourages everyone to go take a look at what he's built down there. So we all went for a walk....

Several ponds, and one with a spring.
Another lake with a seating area, and some paddle boats that you are free to use.
And a cabin that you can hang out at while you are down there. And Gary has some bows in the cabins that you can use to practice archery, and a bulls-eye set up against the hill.
Gary really has created something pretty nice. We were very happy at Echo Valley Campground, and highly recommend it!
