Thursday, October 17th (continued) -- In Afton, Oklahoma, we stopped to see the Will Rogers Highway Marker which shows and marks a very old section of Route 66 that was paved but only 9 feet wide!
You are actually allowed to drive this section of the road, but it is marked as being very rough, so we decided not to do it with the trailer. LOL.
Here is a section of that 9-foot road that has been preserved!
In Vinita, Oklahoma, we passed by what used to be the Twin Bridges over Little Cabin Creek. One had to be taken out when they installed the new road and bridge, but the other has been preserved off to the side!

In Foyil, Oklahoma, we left Route 66 for a few miles to visit Ed Galloway's Totem Pole Park. This park includes the world's largest totem pole, at 90 feet tall, as well as several others that Mr. Galloway created back in the 1940s-1950s.
On the property is also an 11-sided building, built also by Mr Galloway, that houses his own hand-carved fiddles that he created over the course of many years!
There are picnic areas near the Fiddle House, also built by Mr Galloway!

And last but not least, at Catoosa, Oklahoma, we stopped to see the infamous Blue Whale!!
And the cute picnic areas!
The Snack Shack had stickers all over the windows, so we left one of ours! LOL.
From here, we got on the interstate to finish our trip to our campground at Heyburn Lake. At one point, we accidentally got on the toll road, and when we tried to get back off, the toll was $3.00, and they expected it to be paid only in coins, which we didn't have. So we pulled out without paying, thinking that they would use our license number to send us a bill. How embarrasing is that?
So... a standard 2-hour trip, had taken us 7 hours, and we were exhausted! But we had so much fun! We got to the campground, and the lady at the gate didn't have a map to give us, so it took us some time driving around to find our campsite. We got the trailer in place, and I let General out to walk around and do his business. He wanted to go over to the campsite next door to say hello to the pit bull that was there. I asked the lady if it was OK for him to come over, and she said yes, and that her dog was very friendly and would probably want to play. But they had just gotten past the initial sniff of each other when that pit bull attacked General and pinned him down by the neck. I was so upset, I started screaming at that lady. Probably not the best way to handle it, but this was my baby boy! She came over to apologize later, and asked if General was OK. General was just fine, no broken skin. But it sure was a scary experience, one we had not had before! Thanks so much for joining us! We would love to hear your comments, questions and suggestions down below!
