Thursday, October 17th -- Today, we were moving from Joplin to Tulsa, so we decided we might as well do it on Route 66!
Heading west from Joplin, we turned onto E Front Street near the state line, which we missed on our route yesterday. The first attraction we came across was Hogs & Hot Rods Saloon, which is right on the Missouri/Kansas border.
Next was Cars on the Route, on the corner of Front Street and Main Street. We were able to pull off the road right across the street to take the pictures. LOL.
And here's Tater!
In Riverton, Kansas, we took a short side road so we could drive over the Rainbow Bridge. Yes, the weight limit of the bridge was large enough to accommodate us with the trailer.

In Baxter Springs, Kansas, we passed by the Field of Dreams baseball field. We almost totally missed this one, it came up on us so quickly!
The town of Baxter Springs has converted an old Phillips 66 station into their Visitor Center. We pulled off and parked in some spots right across the street so we could quickly check out this cute little town which was so proud to be on Route 66!

In Commerce, Oklahoma, an older part of Route 66 turns west onto Commerce Street, and then south onto Main Street. At the corner of Commerce and Main is the Dairy King, home of the infamous Route 66 cookies!

The Mother and Son team that own the Dairy King were very happy to talk to us about the history of their family and business, and even showed us some pictures of what their place looks like at night with all the neon! Awesome!
In Miami, Oklahoma, we passed by Waylan's Ku-Ku Hamburgers. Check out the Ku-Ku coming out of the front of the building! So cute!
