Tuesday, July 9th -- We headed toward Johnson City because there were 2 historical sites we wanted to take a look at. First was Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site. They had a complete homestead to view, with either a self-guided tour which does not allow you inside the buildings, or a guided tour which does take you thru the buildings.
We did the self-guided, since we wanted to let General out too. They even had a cave on the property, which was pretty interesting to see. And the spring house was pretty fancy with steps down to the front door.
The main house had been added onto at some point, but it was all very interesting to see, and only $3 per person.

The second place was Rocky Mount Living History Farm in Piney Flats, which was another 10 miles away to the northwest. They have costumed interpreters there that give you a tour of the property, and I thought they did an awesome job. I really enjoyed that.
Unfortunately, Ed had gone back to the truck part way into the tour to take General for a walk, but they told him pets were not allowed to wander on the property, so they ended up sitting in the truck until I was finished, and that tour took almost 2 hours!
