Blessed to have a Dead Battery at Home, rather than out on the Road

​Saturday, July 13th -- Ed had intended to leave this morning on his hike to the Tri-State Peak, but when he got in the truck to leave, he found the battery was dead. Shame on us, because we had both noticed the day before that it was cranking pretty hard, and we both chose to ignore it. LOL. 

​Another camper helped us jump start the truck, and Ed took off to Middlesboro to get a new battery. The first place he came to in town was an Autozone, and since he already had a rewards card there, he stopped there and bought a new battery, and the clerk installed it for him.

There was also a group of folks from a local church in the parking lot there offering to do car washes for donations. Feeling blessed to have been given a quick solution to the battery problem, Ed wanted to give back, so he gave a donation and got his truck washed.

When he got back home, it was close to noon, and way too late for him to leave on his hike, since the temperature had risen quite a bit. So we decided to drive to Middlesboro to see what it had to offer. It turned out to be a very small town, with not much going on. But we did see they had some historic renovations going on, like they were just starting to get their main street back in order for better tourism. We wish them the best of luck!
