Sunday, September 15th -- We got both up early, before sunrise, and headed out to get some pics, knowing that we had to be back home within 2 hours to take care of General's morning routine.
This picture was taken from Big Badlands Overlook, in the north section of the park.
And on our way back to the trailer, we saw these big horn sheep on the side of the road. Our very first Big Horn Sheep sighting!!
Then we went back home and started getting ready for our day. Then we headed back out. We turned toward the western section of the park this time.

On the west side of the park, you can continue on the paved road which goes up to I90. Or you can turn left onto the dirt road that continues around the west side of the park. We chose to go on the dirt road (Sagecreek Rim Road), because we had heard there were more animals in this area. And the dirt road was in really good condition! And not even a half mile into it, we saw our very first Bison!!
And about 5 miles down the road, we came across Roberts Prairie Dog Town, where there is a very large concentration of Prairie Dogs!

There is an area towards the center of the park where the rock formations have a yellow layer. They call these Yellow Mounds, and they have a different composition to them that causes this color difference.
A beautiful sunset was seen from our campground!
