Saturday, September 14th -- Ed got up very early and took off to get some sunrise photos! I stayed home with General so that his morning routine wouldn't be altered.
Dogs are allowed in the park, around the parking lots, but not on the trails. And it really is for their own safety. A dog's natural snooping would cause him to find a rattlesnake much faster than a human could find one!
Ed got some awesome shots!
When Ed got back, I decided to make a run out to 1880 Town. This was something I was really looking forward to seeing, and it had been on my list for quite some time. But it was an hour drive from the campground, so Ed stayed behind with General.
The buildings in the town were all pretty awesome! Most of the doorways were covered with screening, so it was difficult to take pictures inside.

This "town" was actually used for the filming of the movie "Dances with Wolves". I haven't seen the movie yet, so if you have, you might recognize some of these shots. I've added that movie to my list. LOL.
They actually rent costumes here that you can wear while touring the site. Pretty awesome! There were several young cowboys and Victorian girls running around the property. LOL.

What started out as a Drug Store, has turned into a shopping center and restaurant, and all with a western theme to it. It was really pretty cool!
What I had wanted to see the most, the Apothecary Museum, unfortunately was closed.
When I got home, I found that Ed had walked into the town of Interior to check it out. Here is the Grocery Store. And this grocery store doesn't carry alot of stuff, especially in the off season. So if you are coming into town, you might do better to stock up on your groceries before you come in! LOL. We didn't and started to run out of alot of things. The nearest supermarket is about 45 minutes away!
And here is one of the 2 bars in town. Ed went in here to grab some lunch, and was listening to a group of rough and tough cowboys talking about their rodeo riding experiences. He said it was really something to hear! LOL.
