Monday, September 16th -- We got going at the normal time (10:00-ish AM) and headed straight for the dirt road section of the park (Sagecreek Rim Road) looking for the animals.
And we were very much blessed to find this guy right on the side of the road!!
What an awesome creature!!

Here is another look at the Yellow Mounds area. So beautiful with all its colors!
As we walked around, we ran into one of these markers. And found out out later what they are used for. The marker is placed in a big hunk of cement, which is on the end of a very long pole. They hammered these poles into the rock formations back in the 1950s, and they use them to gauge how much of the rock sediment and clay are eroding over time. We have seen some of these markers sticking up in the air about 4 feet! That's a bunch of erosion!
