Sunday, July 14th -- Ed left early on his hike, and he texted me with progress reports at he went along. First he followed the trail of the 1907 Object Lesson Road, which was a test to convince voters that better roads should be built.

Saturday, July 13th -- Ed had intended to leave this morning on his hike to the Tri-State Peak, but when he got in the truck to leave, he found the battery was dead. Shame on us, because we had both noticed the day before that it was cranking pretty hard, and we both chose to ignore it. LOL.
Friday, July 12th -- Today we went to visit the historic town of Cumberland Gap. A very small town, but pretty cool! There is an old mill that is now a Bed & Breakfast, and the train tracks still have covered bridges
Wednesday, July 10th -- Brings us to another travel day. Our drive to Cumberland Gap Wilderness Drive Campground went very well. We took 11E/321 to Jonesborough, then Route 354 toward Johnson City, then I26 north into Virginia, then Highway 58 all the way to the campground.
Tuesday, July 9th -- We headed toward Johnson City because there were 2 historical sites we wanted to take a look at. First was Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site. They had a complete homestead to view, with either a self-guided tour which does not allow you inside the buildings, or a guided tour which does take you thru the buildings.
