Traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Fog?

Sunday, June 9th --  we decided to tour some of the Blue Ridge Parkway, since we missed some of it coming into town. We stopped at the visitor center, which was just east of Asheville, and they had an awesome 1.2 mile hiking trail loop, so we walked General on that! 

​Then we got on the Parkway and started heading up the hill. The ultimate destination would have been Mount Mitchell, at 6600 feet, but the higher we went, the foggier it got, until we were literally driving in the clouds!

So we turned around at Craggy Dome Overlook (at 6100 feet) and headed back down the hill. But...WOW, what an awesome drive!

​On Monday, June 10th, we decided to spend our last day in the area by touring the town of Hendersonville. We had intended to visit the Carl Sandburg house, but it was raining when we got there, so we passed on the tour and headed back to town. We drove thru the main street of Hendersonville to see all the unique shops and restaurants in the area.

 It's a very cute town, and we recommend that you take the time to visit, if you are in the area. We got alot more video footage than pictures of this lovely town, so stay tuned for the Asheville video, coming soon!

Overall, we loved Asheville and Rutledge Lake RV Park!
