Tuesday, November 26, 2019 -- We were scheduled to stay another day at Monahans Sandhills State Park, but since it wasn't one of our favorite places, and there were high winds coming into that area, we decided to leave early!
This was our longest drive to date! It should have taken about 5 hours, as per Google Maps, but ended up taking us about 7.5 hours due to the wind and the stops we made. What a long day!
The roads and landscape were generally flat, but the winds were blowing right on our front. Which was good to eliminate the sway problem, but really killed our gas mileage! LOL.

We drove right thru downtown El Paso, which looked like a pretty nice and clean city!
Although we had been hugging the Mexican border for quite some time, we didn't actually see Mexico until we got to El Paso. It was pretty amazing to see the difference between El Paso and the Mexican city right across the border!

Only about 20 minutes away from our destination, we ran across this Border Patrol checkpoint! We had no idea what to expect, but they actually waved us right thru!
Almost there!
Caballo Lake State Park was actually very beautiful!
And here is our campsite, with our own private covered picnic area! Full hookups for only $18 per night!
I headed out to the nearest Walmart to pick up some groceries, and found they had covered parking areas! Awesome!
