Saturday, November 9, 2019 -- Grapeland, Texas isn't a huge town with a bunch of things to do. But Salmon Lake Park Campground is a destination in and of itself!
Salmon Lake Park is very well known for its annual Bluegrass Festival. But it is also an event center with many other events being held there throughout the year. They have meeting spaces that can accommodate small and large groups, up to 200 people! And several lodging cabins, some with as many as 4 bedrooms! This campground, which can accommodate around 300 rigs (30 & 50 amp service, full hookups), was nearly empty during our stay. So we chose a site overlooking the lake!
The gentleman who originally built up this property was a house mover by trade. It's our guess that whenever he had a contract to remove a house nobody wanted, he would bring it here and fix it up! That gentleman passed away a couple of years ago, and this property is now owned by a really nice family with 7 children!
Right down over the hill is an old mill, which helps to control the water level in the lake. 
On the side of the mill is a couple. The woman is actually swatting the man on the butt with a broom, to get him to work harder! LOL.

Up the hill from the mill is one of the renovated lodging cabins! Yes, it looks like something from the old wild west!
Close to the mill is a large stage, for the Bluegrass Festivals they hold here. And it is surrounded by a sloped lawn for everybody to sit, making a natural ampitheater!
In another area, there are some old buildings which are used for meeting spaces.

The hotel is actually for lodging, and can sleep up to 16 people!
