Saturday, August 24th -- The town was holding the annual Marathon in Marathon Park, so it was very busy around the house this morning! Ed had made friends with another camping couple across the street, and the wife was running in the Marathon, so he helped to cheer her on as she ran by!
In the afternoon, when most of the folks had cleared out, we decided to head downtown to grab something to eat, since we had found a restaurant that serves fried cheese curds. We ate at Malarkey's Pub & Townies Grill. Of course we had the fried cheese curds, and these had a ranch powder sprinkled over them, and some ranch dressing to dip them in. Yummy!!

We also had a B.L.A.T. - think BLT but with thin slices of avocado, and instead of mayo, add some garlic aioli. Awesome sandwich!
After we ate, we walked around town for a little bit and took some pictures. The town was very cute, for a modern city.
The umbrellas hanging over the street was an awesome idea, and it looked so cool!

Right across from the restaurant, there was a park with a water fountain splash pad. So we ran back to our tiny house with wheels to grab General, and brought him back so he could have some water fun!
He had a great time, and people who walked by kept stopping to watch him, and some even took pictures. LOL.

Back at home, the train tracks run right behind the park/campground, and they run on a pretty regular schedule, so Ed ran down that way a couple of times to take pictures of the trains.
That evening, we met a couple who were staying in one of the tent sites very close to us. Something about them seemed out of order, so Ed went over to chat with them. Turns out they had lost there jobs, and because their housing was provided by their employer, they were also homeless. They used the last of their money to take a bus to Wausau, and they paid the camping fee at the park for their tent site. We felt that they were trying very hard to do everything right, so we decided to help them out and we bought them a tent, and gave them one of our extra blankets. So the town wouldn't have an excuse to kick them out, and they could kept warm at night. They were a very nice couple, just down on their luck, and they were very appreciative of what we did for them. But they seemed determined to turn things back around, and we wish them the best of luck!
