Wednesday, October 9th -- We kept moving east to Council Grove, Kansas.
It was a fairly easy drive on good roads.
This was our first experience with an Army Corps of Engineers campground, which we were really excited about, because we can save 50% with Ed's Senior Pass! The lake was awesome!
And the campground itself was wonderful! The sites were really awesome, with a covered picnic table and a heavy duty barbeque grill!

But we just happened to pick the very worst campsite, as far as leveling was concerned. We went up the entire 4 inches on our driveup levelers, and still weren't able to get completely level. And by the time we did that, our back steps were so far off the ground, we couldn't make up for the jump up with our extra step like we usually do. And none of us, including General, were able to climb in that way, so we used the bedroom door for our stay in this campground. LOL. So, if you are ever in Council Grove Lake Campground, remember to stay away from site #29! LOL.
But the inconvenience was made up for with the amazing bird shows we kept receiving. This huge flock of birds would be sitting in the water and fishing, and then they would rise up in the air and do this dance all in sync with each other, then land as a group in a slightly different location, and start the whole process all over again. It was totally awesome! And something we have never seen before! During our 4 days there, we must have seen this bird dance about 8-10 times!
