Travel Day to Monahans, Texas

Sunday, November 24, 2019 -- This travel day takes us to Monahans Sandhills State Park in Monahans, Texas!

Cotton fields are plentiful in Central Texas. We had always thought cotton was more east of the Mississippi River, but so not true! Always learning!

Passed this rig on the interstate. High West Distillery from Park City, Utah. Turns out, it was opened in 2007 and is the first legal distillery in the state of Utah since Prohibition ended! Pretty cool rig!

West Texas isn't particularly beautiful, with all the oil riggings, and the commercial and industrial businesses all over that serve the oil riggings. We had expected all of Texas to be covered with oil riggings, but were very pleasantly surprised that most of the state is actually quite beautiful!

We were very apprehensive about our visit to Monahans Sandhills State Park, just not knowing what to expect!

Its a bit different than any other park we have stayed at. Several acres of sand dunes, and the campground is right in the middle of them!

This park is really perfect for families with children! They even rent out big plastic discs to ride down the dunes! But the children seem to walk along the dunes to get to the restrooms, so we didn't have any privacy.

There was just sand everywhere.

But we enjoyed an awesome sunset that evening!
