Sunday, September 1st -- Our first and only day of exploring in Fargo took us to Bonanzaville, which is a huge village full of smaller museums and historic homes. There was a ton of stuff to see there!
The main entrance museum building had a bunch of stuff about local Fargo history.
The Railroad Museum houses a steam locomotive used by the Northern Pacific Railroad and the Nez Perce & Idaho Railroad from 1883 to 1945.
And of course, no town is complete without a water tower. Even if its a reproduction town. LOL.
The Horse Drawn Building had an amazing assortment of horse drawn vehicles, including sleighs, buggies, wagons, drays, a milk wagon and a reproduction Wells Fargo Stage Coach.
The U R Next Barber Shop was originally built around 1900 and located in Buffalo ND.
The Hunter Times Newspaper in Hunter ND flourished until the 1940s.

The Furnberg store operated in Osgood ND (southwest of Fargo) from the late 1880s until 1948.
The Land Office Bank is where settlers would file their claims on land, and receive their land titles once improvements had been made. This building is a replica of a Land Office building found in Cogswell ND that was used during the years of settlement.
The Habberstad cabin was built in 1874 in Kindred ND from oak logs, and was moved to Bonanzaville in 1968.
Fargo's First House was built in 1869, and during its lifetime has served as a home, a hotel, a jail, and a rented out duplex.
The Dobrinz school, the first school in Mapleton Township, was built in 1895, and was closed in the mid-1900s.
The Checkered Years House was built during the late 1870s. Mary Dodge Woodward lived in the home with her children from 1882 to 1889. Mary kept a detailed diary of her life in the Dakota Territory which was later published with the title "The Checkered Years".

The Houston House was built in 1881 near Hunter ND. Mr Houston was an inventor, and included a hot air furnace with vents and registers, as well as an indoor bathroom in this house, both of which were unheard of at the time. When I walked around the corner and saw the bear skin rug, I actually jumped! I had never seen one of these in person before! LOL
The Cass County District Courthouse furnishings used from 1904 to 1967 have been placed into this building, which was originally a schoolhouse built in 1928.
The Melroe Tractor Building includes many different tractors manufactured throughout the 1900s.
The Pioneer Fire Company is a reproduction of an 1890s fire station and houses antique fire fighting equipment.
This Harness Shop was built in Addison ND in early 1900s.
North Dakota's first Telephone Museum was created inside this converted hardware store from Tower City ND.

The Bjerklie Drug Store was built in 1887 and was in continuous operation until 1975. At that time, the building was sold, and all contents donated to the historical society, who has recreated the drugstore inside this renovated building.
The Brass Rail Saloon and Hotel was built in Page ND in 1889, although it sold no liquor until after 1930, because North Dakota entered the union as a dry state.
The Cass-Clay Creamery is a reproduction of a 1920s creamery.
North Dakota's only Law Enforcement Museum was built in 1989.
The Eagle Air Museum includes this Douglas C-47, which was used in World War II during the D-Day invasion.
