Tuesday, October 29, 2019 -- We left early to go exploring the Town of Jefferson TX, stopping first at the Visitor Center to find out all the hot spots we should see!
Jefferson has a very interesting history. It was actually a popular river port from 1845 to 1875, but then the river was re-routed and the town was kind of frozen in time afterwards. The town has worked very hard to preserve its history and the beautiful buildings of that era. Some of the architecture took on the look of New Orleans!
This is the Marion County Chamber of Commerce building. Pretty fancy!
This very colorful piece of art sits in a very small town park.
The Visitor Center recommended the General Store as being one of THE top places to visit, and WOW! What a place!
They have a small bucket of sidewalk chalk sitting outside to keep the little ones entertained! LOL.

I'm sure this old building has quite a story to tell, but we weren't able to find any history on it.
And another New Orleans style building. Love it!
We stopped by Kitt's Kornbread Sandwiches for lunch and had our first ever homemade Texas chili... AWESOME! And probably the very best cornbread we have ever had! Highly recommended!!
General is loving the lake at the campground, and is very happy to go for a walk, whenever I'm feeling up to it! LOL.
