Arizona History Museum in Tucson

Wednesday, December 4, 2019 — We went to downtown Tucson to tour the Arizona History Museum! Even their front entrance is historical!

They have an exhibit about John Slaughter, who became Sheriff of Tombstone shortly after the shootout at the OK Corral. It details how he brought law and order into Tombstone and watched the changes that took place over several decades.

They also have one of the best preserved stage coaches we have seen to date! Even the interior still looks awesome!

Since mining was a very popular industry in this area, they have a collection of locally mined rocks!

A very nice exhibit on living in a mining town. Mining companies actually preferred married workers, and thought they were more reliable. Mining companies also provided schools, churches and libraries for their workers’ families.

They have an entire mine operation set up, including the tracks for the buckets, and multiple levels of mine shafts!
