Wednesday, December 25, 2019 -- Wishing all of you a Very Merry Christmas!
We decided to do some more exploring of the town of Quartzsite, since we figured the traffic would be pretty light on Christmas Day! Our first stop was the Hi Jolly Cemetery!
Hi Jolly ran a herd of pack Camels in this area back in the 1850s, and was very popular!

There are a couple of informational signs that give more detailed information about this time in Quartzsite's history.
Hi Jolly's Tomb is located inside the actual Quartzsite Cemetery. Surrounding his Tomb is the Pioneer Section of the cemetery, which consists of a bunch of unorganized plots. On the West side of the Cemetery is the newer, more organized plot section of the Cemetery.

The Quartzsite Yacht Club has an interesting story! Why would Quartzsite have a Yacht Club when there is no water for miles around? Because they can! Anyone can get a membership, and it's only $25 to join. And alot of people have used their Quartzsite Yacht Club membership to enter other Yacht Clubs around the world!
Big Market is now the only Hardware Store in Quartzsite, now that Herb's Hardware is closed so he could retire! Big Market has a little bit of everything, even groceries. But we found Big Market has the cheapest prices in town on liquor!
Silly Al's has the BEST PIZZA we have had in a super long time! This is also a very popular hangout spot, since they have live music regularly, a dance floor, a full bar, and a couple of pool tables. If our budget would have allowed it, we would have gladly eaten here every day!

Right next to Silly Al's is the Tyson Stage Station Museum, also known as the Quartzsite Museum. This is where you would go to get any kind of history on the Quartzsite area! And admission is free! We never did get around to checking out this museum, which is really silly, considering we love history! What were we thinking?
RV Pitstop is probably the most popular place for RVers. Its a one-stop shop for propane, dump stations and fresh water fills. This is where most people go when they are boondocking on the many BLM lands in this area. We only went in here twice, when our regular propane place (76 Station) was closed. It's very busy, and sometimes the traffic gets held up in the road because people are waiting to get in here.
