Friday, February 28, 2020 -- We just love watching the mountains change color depending on the clouds in the sky!
So many desert flowers! We are amazed at how colorful the desert really is! This was so very unexpected!
And so many different colors!

I really think this one is my favorite. It's just such an interesting and unique shape.
Yellow seems to be the most popular color, but still alot of other colors too!
General just loves spending time outside, because there are almost no bugs in Quartzsite. I think we only saw a couple of flies and a couple of mosquitos the whole time we were there. And no ants at all!
Thursday, March 5, 2020 -- We went downtown to check out a couple more buildings that we hadn't seen yet. Next to Silly Al's Pizza, there is a building which houses Dorothy and Toto's Ice Cream Shoppe, but also a really awesome leather shop too! They have every kind of leather you can imagine, and in so many different colors too! And the prices were amazing!

After checking out the leather shop, we noticed a monument across the street. Even though we had driven by it many times, we had no idea what it said. So today was the day!
Charles Tyson was a very important person in Quartzsite's history. He dug a well by hand to service the folks coming thru the area on stage coach. Tyson built a fort in 1856 to protect the water supply from Native Indian raids. By 1897, Tyson had 3 stores, 2 saloons and a post office in the Quartzsite area. Here's what they did to mark the original location of the well. And this butts right up against Main Street. Pretty cool!
Close by the well location is Tyson Wash, the biggest wash which flows right thru the center of town.
There is a huge Palo Verde tree on the edge of the wash, that must be about 30 feet tall. And it's just starting to bloom, yellow flowers!

Friday, March 6, 2020 -- Here is another very unique rig! Wow!
So... we bought this Paxcess portable battery before we left home, and had planned to use it to charge our phones and computers when we didn't have power. We didn't have much need for it for several months, since we were always in campgrounds with electric hookups. When we got to Quartzsite, and we were running our generator, the Paxcess got charged from that.
But when we switched to our Zamp solar panel, and stopped running the generator so much, we found we didn't have a good way to charge our computers anymore. Since we were having such great luck with our Zamp solar panel, we decided to buy the 50W solar panel that goes with the Paxcess, and it turned out to be an awesome idea. The solar panel charges the Paxcess completely in about 8-10 hours, so we always have plenty of battery power to recharge our computers!
