Thursday, January 23, 2020 -- The RV Show started on Sunday. We waited until Thursday to go, thinking that the crowds would be less. We also went early... at 9am, just as they were opening up! And it worked!
There were many different kinds of vendors there. Some selling general merchandise... belts, shoes, hats, handbags, cell phone cases, etc. And there were several booths with travel info, mainly for Canada. But there was a pretty awesome Alaska booth there as well! And we grabbed one of everything from the Alaska booth!
There were also several booths with workamping opportunities, and of course, Amazon was represented there. Workamping is where they give you a free RV site with all the hookups, in exchange for you doing work for them for a reduced number of hours per week. Some will even pay a salary in additional to your RV site, if you work more hours for them. Workamping is great for folks who really want to get on the road, but still need to make some money!
There were some booths representing fancy RV Parks, where they were selling permanent spaces. This would probably be more useful to Snowbirds than to those like us who want to travel around and see things.
And of course, lots of RV gadgets and furniture.
So, what did WE think of the show? Overall, it was a good experience, and we saw alot of really interesting things. But there were quite a few hawkers there who walk right up and get in your space, trying to sell their wares, and that wasn't so cool.

We loved this Coffee Wagon! So cute!
After visiting the Big Tent, we headed over to the RV lot and checked out a really awesome Fifth Wheel trailer! Then we found a Salesman and asked him to show us what we really wanted to see... Motorhomes less than 30 feet long! After looking at about 8 of them, this is the one we settled on.
The bed is on a slide that pops out the back, and the bed folds in half so that it can be slid back in while traveling. Downside is... no replacing the mattress with a normal mattress!
Two large wardrobe cabinets in the bedroom, probably equal to the wardrobe storage we have in our trailer now.

A larger shower! That would be awesome!
And a separate toilet room across from the shower, with a nice cubbie under the vanity. But much less storage space than we currently have in our bathroom.
Nice corner kitchen with pop up extra counter top areas. A little less countertop space than we have now, but probably a little bit more kitchen storage space.

Loveseat with dual recliners! This would be totally awesome, since we don't use our couch very much now, and would love to have a comfortable place to relax and kick back! LOL.
And the standard dinette.
Would this Forest River FR3 28DS work for us? Absolutely, even with the complaints I've mentioned above. DId we trade in our trailer? No way! Why? We have talked about it many times, and our trailer is perfect for us, with no complaints. Also, our truck and trailer together costed less than half what this 2018 FR3 costs.
Motorhomes do have their advantages. Automatic stabilizers would be awesome. Having the generator start up automatically whenever its needed would be awesome. And having the generator run off of your coach's gas tank, with an auto shutoff when your gas tank gets below 1/4 tank. Wow! So Cool! Being able to walk around, make something to eat, go to the bathroom, or take a nap while the RV is traveling down the road would also be fantastic! But... Motorhomes also have their disadvantages. So much more storage space with the compartments underneath, but the numbers don't show that we would be able to have much more cargo capacity than we do now. Your house and tow vehicle are one, so when one breaks down, you lose both to the mechanics. The added expense is also a big downside. And if you had a towed ("toad"), even more expense. So...no... no trade, at least for right now. But is was so much fun looking around!
Ed really liked this Motorcycle that we saw in the parking lot at the RV show. I know nothing about motorcycles, but it looked cool to me too!
