Friday, December 27, 2019 — We were in Quartzsite for 2 weeks before we realized our refrigerator wasn’t working on propane!
Before you chastise us for being stupid, let me explain it’s a very easy mistake to make. We plug in and run the generator for about 2-3 hours each morning, and then again in the evening for another 2-3 hours. So our refrigerator was cooling during certain hours of the day. It just took us awhile to realize it wasn’t AS COLD as it should have been at ALL times of the day!
We have a Warranty on our trailer, so I called the Warranty place first, just to see how everything worked. They said we could use any licensed and insured repair person, even if it was a mobile unit, which was awesome!
So, anyway, not knowing the first thing about RV refrigerators, we went up to the La Posa South Gatehouse to see if they could recommend a service person. Turns out, only certain service people are ALLOWED to come onto BLM land, and they have a list there for you, with all the phone numbers.
From the list, we picked Miller RV Repair, and what a great choice that was! Mark Miller came out to our trailer within about an hour! He took the time to explain to us how the parts on the outside compartment of an RV refrigerator work. Turns out, the flame was bouncing back to the orifice where the gas shoots out, so it wasn’t doing its job properly. So Mark cleaned out the orifice, and we lit it up, and it worked! He said that probably would be all we needed, and told us that if the problem came back, he would recommend changing out the propane regulator on the front of the trailer by our propane tanks. So… we got some service, and an education, and he only charged us $25 for the service call! Awesome!
But it was about 3 days later that we realized the fridge still wasn’t working right. So we bought the new regulator which Mark Miller recommended. Ed actually liked this regulator better, because it has a red/green spot to tell you if your tank is empty or not. Turns out, the regulator didn’t fix the problem either. But more on that in the next blog post.
Did you see that Blimp go by? We found out later that it had attended a special event in California, and was heading back home to Phoenix when it passed close by!
Our Daughter and Son-in-Law gave us Subway gift cards for Christmas. And the timing couldn’t have been better. Since we were having so much trouble with our fridge, we didn’t want to be buying food that might spoil!

Another awesome desert sunset!
We have had this magnet (left) for years! And we have been trying to get a similar picture of General with a tennis ball in his mouth. Our plan was to market the picture to Wilson or Penn (whichever one he happened to have in his mouth) and make millions from the royalties. LOL. As of yet, we have been unsuccessful, but now our plan is out, so if anyone out there would like to take it and run with it from here, you have our blessing! LOL.
Sunday, December 29, 2019 — Don’t know where these folks plan to use that Kayak. Did we mention, there is NO water in Quartzsite, at all!
And… it happened! A lot of people get the BUG at some point! Where there are rocks, there are Rockhounds. And builders of Rock Art! Ed is just getting started on this, but stay tuned to see the finished project!

This beautiful red-headed Hummingbird showed up recently! Over all, I think we’ve seen about 5-6 different breeds of Hummingbirds here!
Isn’t he just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen! We love our precious baby boy, General!
