Lake Reidsville Campground Review: Affordable Lakeside RV Camping in North Carolina
Finding a campground that’s both affordable and enjoyable isn’t always easy.
During our travels through central North Carolina, we spent several days at Lake Reidsville Park & Campground, just north of Greensboro, and came away pleasantly surprised.
With peaceful lakeside views, full-hookup campsites, fishing, boating, hiking trails, and reasonable prices, it’s an excellent stop whether you’re traveling through the area or planning a relaxing weekend getaway.
Here’s what we discovered during our stay.
Where Is Lake Reidsville Campground?
Lake Reidsville Park & Campground is located in Reidsville, North Carolina, approximately 20 miles north of Greensboro.
The campground sits beside Lake Reidsville, a municipal reservoir that provides drinking water for the surrounding community.
Its convenient location makes it an easy stop for RV travelers exploring North Carolina while still offering a quiet setting away from busy highways.
Campsites and Hookups
The campground offers approximately 45 campsites ranging in size from smaller sites for compact RVs to larger spaces capable of accommodating bigger travel trailers and motorhomes.
During our visit, our site was listed as suitable for a 35-foot RV.
Although our trailer measured about 29 feet, we still had plenty of room to park both the trailer and our truck comfortably.
The campground offers two types of sites:
- Water and electric hookups
- Full hookup sites
At the time of our visit, the pricing was especially attractive:
- Water & Electric: $18 per night
- Full Hookups: $20 per night
Finding full hookups at that price is becoming increasingly rare, making Lake Reidsville an excellent value.
Be Prepared to Level Your RV
If there’s one thing prospective campers should know before arriving, it’s this:
The campground is built on a hillside.
The entrance road descends a fairly steep hill before reaching the camping loops.
Once inside the campground the roads become much easier to navigate, but many campsites are not perfectly level.
Some require side-to-side leveling.
Others require additional front-to-back leveling.
Our site wasn’t difficult from side to side, but we did need extra leveling blocks to raise the tongue high enough.
We even watched a few campers relocate after discovering their original sites were more challenging than expected.
Fortunately, with a little preparation, it’s very manageable.
Beautiful Lake Views
One of our favorite features of the campground was its beautiful setting.
Many campsites overlook Lake Reidsville, creating a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing after a day of travel.
A grassy area separates much of the campground from the shoreline, with picnic tables scattered throughout for anyone wanting to enjoy lunch beside the water.
It’s a wonderful place to sip your morning coffee or watch the sunset over the lake.
Boating and Fishing
If you enjoy spending time on the water, Lake Reidsville offers several recreational opportunities.
The park includes:
- Boat launch
- Floating boat dock
- Boat slips for campers
- Fishing piers
- Gazebos overlooking the lake
Whether you’re bringing your own boat or simply hoping to spend an afternoon fishing, the facilities make it easy to enjoy the lake.
One important note:
Because Lake Reidsville serves as a municipal drinking water reservoir, swimming is not permitted for either people or pets.
Kayaks, Canoes, and More
Don’t own a boat?
No problem.
The park also rents kayaks and canoes, making it easy to spend time on the water without bringing your own equipment.
Combined with the peaceful surroundings, it’s a great way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
Walking Trails and Wildlife
The campground also includes several walking trails winding through the surrounding woods.
Some of the trails pass by portions of the park’s disc golf course, while others provide excellent opportunities for wildlife photography.
During one of his walks, Ed captured a wonderful photograph of a Great Blue Heron catching a fish.
Moments like that are one of the reasons we enjoy staying at parks like this.
You never know what you’ll discover around the next bend.
Family-Friendly Amenities
Lake Reidsville offers much more than campsites.
Families will appreciate amenities including:
- Playground
- Horseshoe pits
- Picnic shelters
- Large grassy areas
- Camp store
- Plenty of parking
The campground feels welcoming without being overly crowded.
Several covered picnic shelters can also be rented for family reunions, birthday parties, or other gatherings.
Camp Store Convenience
The campground office doubles as a small camp store where you check in upon arrival.
Inside you’ll find:
- Drinks
- Snacks
- Camping basics
- Park information
While it isn’t a full grocery store, it’s convenient if you need a quick refreshment or forgot a small camping item.
Our Overall Impression
We really enjoyed our stay at Lake Reidsville.
Its strengths include:
- Affordable rates
- Full hookups available
- Beautiful lake views
- Excellent boating facilities
- Fishing opportunities
- Walking trails
- Family-friendly atmosphere
- Quiet setting
The uneven campsites are probably the only drawback, but with proper leveling equipment they’re hardly a deal breaker.
In fact, we’d happily stay here again.
