Big Travel Day from Bouse AZ to Tonopah NV (Part 1)!

Sunday, April 26, 2020 — The weather finally warmed up a little bit in Tonopah, so off we went on our first big Travel Day of 2020! We decided to travel up into Nevada for awhile, because their number of CoVid cases was very low, and we figured it was about the safest place we could be at this time. We got on the road about 9AM!

Just outside of Parker AZ, we drove past this old train trestle bridge! After that, we crossed into California for awhile!

Sometimes the roads are flat, and just seem to go on forever!
Some roads are flat and never ending
And sometimes the roads in the desert follow the natural curve of the land, so you have this! LOL.

We had to pull off the side of the road so I could pee!

But what an awesome place to stop! The desert scenery was just beautiful!

We stopped in Searchlight NV around 11:30AM to get gas, and figured we’d best get something to eat too! The Colton Mine struck silver in 1897 in this area!

We watched this motorhome pull in with a pontoon boat about as big as his rig, but he backed it into that parking spot like he’d been doing it all his life!

We spotted our first Joshua Tree about a half hour south of Las Vegas!

At first, I thought what we were seeing in the distance was a lake.
Is that a lake in the distance?
But it ended up being a huge solar array!
Not a lake, but a huge solar array!
Some of the Nevada Casinos seem to be out in the middle of nowhere. There wasn’t any kind of town around this one at all!

We drove an outer loop around the city, and passed by the Fiesta Henderson Hotel and Casino!

Ed and I had been to Las Vegas a few times before, so we had no interest in stopping. Here is another view of the downtown buildings, as we got closer.

Well north of Las Vegas, we spotted this fancy hacienda in the middle of a huge ranch!

This mountain must be very tall, since it’s just covered in snow!
